An All My Children star has joined the roster for the latest round of ABC's Dancing With the Stars. Several other celebs with daytime ties were expected to be dancing it up too -- but it was all part of an Internet ruse.

All My Children's Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) is the latest soap opera star to sign up to shake his groove thing on ABC's Dancing With the Stars. The AMC actor is one of the 12 celebs that will compete on the dancing show when it bows later this month.

In addition to his work on All My Children, Mathison is also the host of SOAPnet's reality contest I Wanna Be a Soap Star. The series is currently in its fourth season and the winner of the show will land a plum 13-week gig on NBC's Days of our Lives.

As Dancing With the Stars grows in popularity is finds itself the topic of Internet gossip and hype. A supposedly leaked press release claimed that several more stars with soap ties were going to be in the show, including Nia Peeples and Tori Spelling.

Peeples, who currently appears as Karen Taylor on The Young and the Restless, told fans on her official web site that she would love to be a part of the cha-cha-cha-ing on "Dancing."

"Guess what?" Peeples mused. "It's a rumur! But everyone here in town is hearing the same thing you're hearing so don't feel bad. The sad thing is I won't be on [Dancing With the Stars] this season. The good thing is a rumor means they are seriously considering [putting me on the show]. Also CBS called my agent in a panic when they heard, complaining that they were just starting to develop my character on Y&R and would be needing more of my time."

In season one of Dancing With the Stars, General Hospital star Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) squared off in the finale with daytime vet John O'Hurley (ex-Douglas Prescott, As the World Turns; ex-Jim Grainger, The Young and the Restless; ex-Steven Slade, Santa Barbara) of Dancing's first season.

The current edition of Dancing With the Stars - its fifth time around the dance floor -- debuts Monday, September 24th at 800pm.
