Sony Pictures Television made a major behind-the-scenes change by promoting Steve Mosko from president to chairman, Sony Entertainment Inc. CEO Michael Lynton has announced.

Sony Entertainment Inc. CEO Michael Lynton has announced that Steve Mosko has been promoted from the position of Sony Pictures Television president to the position of chairman.

In his new position, Mosko will continue to run Sony Entertainment Inc's television platform, which includes both Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless. He will also continue as boss to Steve Kent, Sony Pictures Television senior executive vice president for programming and supervisor to both DAYS and Y&R.

"Under Steve's leadership, Sony Pictures Television has become the industry's largest independent television studio," Lynton said. "Our media networks business has expanded to over 150 channel feeds around the world and the company is well-positioned for growth in both production and distribution. Steve is a remarkable executive and we are proud to have him at the helm of Sony Pictures Television."

Said Mokso of the decision: "I am honored to be named chairman, and grateful to Michael, my colleagues at Sony Pictures, and to the incredible team at Sony Pictures Television, whose hard work and dedication has built the successful global business we have today."

Mosko joined Sony Pictures Entertainment in 1992 and was named President of Sony Pictures TV in 2000. Over the years, he's built on the studio's syndication business, overseeing first-run and off-network program sales in over 200 markets and supervising efforts of regional offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas.
