David Lago
January 2009
Tom Pelphrey or David Lago? Which of these Emmy-winning actors would be better able to hold their own as Sonny's son against Maurice Benard? These are the questions that are expected to be answered later this month when General Hospital finally casts the much-talked-about role of Dante.
Vail Bloom
January 2009
Is Vail Bloom (Heather Stevens) leaving The Young and the Restless. It all depends on who you ask. A spokesperson for the actress says she's staying put -- and that show execs recently extended Bloom's stay in Genoa City. Still, others whisper that the actress' time is coming to an end.
Eva Marcille
January 2009
She's been named America's Next Top Model and now CBS has given Eva Marcille another prize: she's now on-contract with The Young and the Restless. As if that were not enough, Marcille and her boyfriend, Lance Gross, are now engaged. There is still one thing Marcille says she's missing: a good Y&R catfight.
Stacy Haiduk
February 2009
The Young and the Restless has found someone to play Jack Abbott's new love interest. Former All My Children star Stacy Haiduk will tackle the role of "Mary Jane," a new hire at Jabot. In addition to her AMC role, Haiduk has numerous primetime and film credits to her name. She'll appear in mid-March.
Michael Graziadei
March 2009
Is or or isn't he? That seems to be the question a lot of fans of Michael Graziadei seem to be asking lately. A few months after reports that the actor was leaving Y&R first surfaced, the Emmy-nominated actor remains in Genoa City. That doesn't mean he isn't still looking for that breakout role elsewhere.
Don Diamont
March 2009
It may not quite be the scenario that fans had been hoping for, but Don Diamont has landed a new daytime gig. The Bold and the Beautiful has hired the former star of The Young and the Restless for a newly created role. Diamont had appeared as Brad Carlton on Y&R for nearly 25 years before the character was killed off last month.
Clementine Ford
March 2009
Mackenzie Browning is returning to Genoa City, but don't expect to see any of the three previous actresses who've played the role on your television screen. Soap newcomer Clementine Ford will take over the role beginning next month. Ford is the daughter of actress Cybill Shepherd.
Jess Walto
March 2009
The Young and the Restless has a potentially crippling problem on its hand. Emmy-winning actress Jess Walton has walked off the set -- and it is not because she's been ill, as previously reported elsewhere. A new report claims that the actress refused to take a paycut and bolted. Walton has been on Y&R for more than 20 years.
Jess Walton
March 2009
The Young and the Restless had a potentially crippling problem on its hands. Emmy-winning actress Jess Walton walked off the set amid claims of illness and unhappiness over a request that she take a salary cut. The show threatened to recast Jill Abbott, but Walton and Y&R execs have since come to terms on a new contract.
Clementine Ford
March 2009
Clementine Ford already had her work cut out for her. The daytime newcomer, and daughter of actress Cybill Shepherd, was cast to take over a fan-favorite character, Mackenzie Browning. What the actress did not expect was for a magazine to twist her words, declare that she'd "come out," and creat a fictitious relationship between Ford and a co-star. Now, the actress sets the record, um, straight.
Rick Hearst
April 2009
Rumors of mass firings at General Hospital are turning out to be the worst kind of rumors -- they're true. Former Y&R star Rick Hearst and relative GH newcomer, Megan Ward, have both been taken off contract with the ABC soap. Both performers have agreed to stick around in a recurring basis, but it's unclear for how long. Meanwhile, whispers that more cuts are coming are getting louder.
Bryton McClure
April 2009
The is-he-or-isn't-he rumor mill has found a new target: Emmy winner Bryton McClure. The actor, who originated the role of Devon Hamilton in 2004, is said to have been taken off contract with The Young and the Restless. The actor, however, has assured fans that that is not the case. Still, the rumors persist.
Joshua Morrow
April 2009
Fans of The Young and the Restless can seemingly be divided into two groups lately: those who like Nick Newman with Phyllis and those who like Nick with Sharon. Now, actor Joshua Morrow sits down to talk about how his character can possibly be in love with two women at the same time.
Nia Peeples
April 2009
Ousted Y&R actress Nia Peeples has given an explosive interview, in which she blasts her co-stars as unprepared and lashes out at show executives who don't seem to care if their stories are flawed. The actress also contacted soapcentral.com to share a heartfelt message to her fans and fans of the show.
Michael Damian
May 2009
Though fans can't currently see Michael Damian on The Young and the Restless, the actor has made a return to another of his old stomping grounds: the pop charts. Damian's update of a former number-one hit song is currently climbing the Billboard charts.

Is Melody Thomas Scott prepared to leave The Young and the Restless, a soap she's called home for 30 years? According to published reports, the actress is unhappy with being asked to take a salary cut or be dropped to recurring status. This isn't the first time Scott's future with the CBS soap has been in question.

Chris Engen
May 2009

Chris Engen
May 2009
Chris Engen has broken his silence about why he left The Young and the Restless. Initial reports claimed that the actor bolted because he has religious objections to his character having to kiss another male character. The actor hints that he wanted out long before that and issues an apology to fans hurt by his decision to leave.
Yani Gellman
May 2009
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Isaac Newton and soap operas don't usually end up in the same sentence, but this time there's a reason for it. While much attention is focused on Chris Engen walking out after learning his Y&R character would be kissing another man, newcomer Yani Gellman has a completely different reaction to playing a gay character.
Melody Thomas Scott
June 2009
Have The Young and the Restless viewers seen the last of Melody Thomas Scott? Is the show planning to bring in a new actress to play the role of Nikki Newman? These are just two of the unanswered questions surrounding the announcement that contract talks between Scott and the show have hit a roadblock.

While Guiding Light's future has not officially determined, Gina Tognoni appears to be hedging her bets. Before joining GL, Tognoni appeared on ABC's One Life to Live.

August 2009
Could Victoria Rowell once again appear on The Young and the Restless? The actress says it's possible, but hints that the decision ultimately rests with CBS. Rowell made a much-publicized exit from the top-rated soap in 2007.

On September 12, at a black tie gala of over 850 people, The Young and the Restless' Thom Bierdz received an award from the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Visibility Award. The award was bestowed on the Y&R star for his human rights work on behalf of the mentally ill.
Victoria Rowell
September 2009
Intrigue, secret plots, and back-stabbing. Three things that make for a juicy dramatic soap plot -- or behind-the-scenes scandal. Award-winning former Y&R star Victoria Rowell claims that several of her former co-stars are working overtime to prevent her return to the top-rated CBS soap.
Eric Braeden
September 2009
The Young and the Restless without Eric Braeden's Victor Newman? It may seem unthinkable to fans of the CBS soap, but the unthinkable just became reality. A contract flap between Braeden and show execs has prompted the show to write out Victor and Nikki. Will either return? A rep says maybe not.

October 2009
Now that Eric Braeden has had his say about his ouster from The Young and the Restless, some of his former co-stars are also breaking their silence on the contract mess. While their opinions of the situation may vary, all seem to agree that Y&R would definitely benefit by keeping Braeden on board.

Eric Braeden
October 2009
Headlines aren't always written in stone. Dewey didn't really defeat Truman, and it looks like Eric Braeden hasn't really left The Young and the Restless. Contrary to Braeden's insistence that he was done at the top-rated CBS soap, the actor and show executives have reached a deal on a new contract.
